If you're experienced with Linux and have your own desired OS you don't have to use Ubuntu. If you already have another OS installed and you're not good with linux, you should restore the vps and install Ubuntu 16.04. I'm using Ubuntu 16.04 for this tutorial and I'd recommend you installing it on your VPS. On the VPS setup we will install a Desktop and Xrdp which will make it possible to connect to your VPS with Windows remote desktop connection. If you're experienced with Linux and have it setup to your liking you can jump over the VPS setup. We will go over how to setup your VPS from the beginning and how to host a server on it.
